AREA Program This year’s AREA program was an amazing
success with 152
students attending from three San Diego high schools and one
magnet middle school.
“The AREA Program was wonderful, extremely relevant, and impressive,” said Dr. Ericka Sennegar-Mitchell, a teacher at local Serra High School. “Please accept our utmost gratitude for this unique opportunity.”
A student from Serra High School wrote on her evaluation, “I really enjoyed myself. Two positive things about the field trip were that I learned there is more to taking care of laboratory animals than I thought, and the presentations given really opened my mind as to why laboratory animal science is completely necessary.”
Positive student feedback and compliments like Dr. Sennegar-Mitchell’s are earned due to the amazing support AREA receives from our corporate sponsor, Pfizer, as well as all of the volunteer tour guides and exhibition hall vendor participants.
The Foundation would like to recognize the following laboratory animal professionals who gave their time and talent to encourage the students along with their teachers and chaperones this year.
