2009 AALAS President Scott Perkins kicks off the 60th AALAS National Meeting with a ribbon cutting to open the Exhibit Hall.

The meeting was a success, with4,624registered attendees and more than 300 exhibitors. Special thanks to the Program Committee, chaired by Stuart Leland (pictured at right), and the Denver Local Arrangements Committee, chaired by Gail Heidbrink (pictured at left).

The meeting offered nearly 400 sessions on a range of educational, timely topics.

Learning Resources Center
The Learning Resources Center made available more than 200 videos and image galleries on topics related to animal biomethodologies, ethics, regulatory matters, management, biosafety, careers, and outreach to children. This collection highlighted new additions to the LRC collection this year. AALAS Foundation
The AALAS Foundation activities during the National Meeting in Denver helped raise $42,925 to support educational outreach. Special thanks to Charles River for sponsoring the Foundation reception, Instech Solomon for sponsoring our auctioneer Dr. Tom Nolan (right), Steris for sponsoring the 20th Annual 5K Run/Walk, and Allentown and Tecniplast for making a contribution for each person who attended their open house events on Sunday.

Edoardo and Carlo Bernardini of Tecniplast present AALAS Foundation Executive Director Ann Turner and Board Chairman Dennis Brown with a donation of $10,000 at the Tecniplast reception at the 2009 AALAS National Meeting.

Allentown representatives present the AALAS Foundation with a check for $8,500 following the 3rd Annual Allentown Charitable Open House.

New Platinum contributors to the AALAS Foundation include Baxter Healthcare (below) and IITC Life Sciences, Inc.

Steris gave $2,495 to the Foundation from the 5K Run.

The 15th Annual AREA Program was attended by 81 students from Denver East High School, Front Range Early College, Bollman Technical Education Center, Mountain Range High School, and Denver Venture School. The AREA program would not be possible without the dedicated and caring support of the exhibitors who participated by submitting questions for the AREA exam, donating items for the AREA goodie bags, and leading students on tours of the exhibit hall.
